Going FOWL - Day 4

Since there are days when you just don't feel like cooking, there are restaurants.  Yesterday was one of those days, so Heather and I decided to hit up one of our favorite watering holes, Carrabbas.  But going out to eat, doesn't mean you have to ruin your entire eating plan.  You can eat a wonderful meal that fits into your dietary restrictions and is delicious.  For Heather and I that meant, not getting so chicken salad with the dressing on the side, but rather deciding on splitting a meal.  As luck would have it, the chicken seemed to be the favorite of the day as both a meal and an appetizer made of chicken were on the daily specials menu.  Here is what we had.

Appetizer:  Chicken Spiedini - Basically these were three grilled chicken skewers with grape tomatoes, croutons on a bed of arugula lettuce with a balsamic vinegar reduction and some shredded Parmesan cheese.  It was a simple enough appetizer that I could do it at home, but with the added Balsamic vinegar and cheese was very tasty.  The picture shows the whole order that Heather and I split.

Main Course:  For dinner Heather and I, once again, chose off of the specials menu.  The dish we chose was called Chicken Sorrentino.  It was a grilled Chicken Breast topped with Prosciutto, a slice of eggplant, fontina cheese and Marsala sauce.  We chose a side of fettuccine alfredo and Caesar salad, which they also were kind enough to split for us.  This picture shows the half version.

Thoughts:  I am very happy we decided to split the meal, because this portion was plenty, especially after the appetizer, salad and some bread.  In reality, we should have probably gone for a vegetable or something other than the pasta with alfredo sauce, but we don't get Carrabbas very often so what the heck.  I will say this....why go out to eat and then eat something healthy that you aren't really going to enjoy.  Heather and I would much rather go and split something that we like than go out and spend money on something that doesn't satisfy.  The key is not to do it every night.
